Mill Creek Entertainment and Indigo Entertainment (United Kingdom) are pleased to announce the license of the Ultraman superhero library from Tsuburaya Productions Co., Ltd for North American home entertainment distribution. Indigo, on behalf of Tsuburaya, has developed a unique licensing deal with Mill Creek to bring this iconic property back to North America that includes both physical and digital distribution rights for the Ultraman catalog which includes classic TV series which have been newly remastered in high definition, recent theatrical feature films and almost everything produced throughout the last 50 years. First release in 2019 was the classic anthology series Ultra Q.

Premiering in 1966, Ultra Q featured a scientific team investigating bizarre and supernatural phenomenon across Japan. The series was the first to bring cinema quality special effects to a weekly episodic format on the Tokyo Broadcast System. It was also the first to feature Kaiju, the extraordinary giant monsters (some of whom would recur throughout the Ultraman franchise) upon which Eiji Tsuburaya had built his reputation creating such memorable Kaiju as Godzilla, Rodan, and Mothra.

Despite the success of Ultra Q in Japan, the show never made it to western shores. Last year’s North America release of Ultra Q – The Complete Series was a first in the history of the series.

The Ultra Q package is available in two equally high-quality collections, the Standard Edition and the Steelbook Edition. Both are embossed with a #1 on the spine, marking them as the first in what is sure to be a long-running series of Ultraman releases. The 28 episodes are divided across four Blu-ray discs, and feature crisp, high-definition remasters of the original black-and-white Japanese production. In addition to the physical product, each set comes with a code for a digital redemption from MovieSpree. Perhaps most fascinating for super-fans, both versions of the collection come with a 28-page guidebook, featuring the history of the series, as well as a brand new episode guide and profiles on the many bizarre monsters and works of technology that made Ultra Q  famous.

Ultra Q – The Complete Series is available wherever DVDs are sold, alongside Ultraman – The Complete SeriesUltraseven – The Complete SeriesUltraman Orb – The Series + The Movie, and Ultraman Geed – The Series + The Movie. Look forward to more great Ultra Series collections in the near future, courtesy of Mill Creek Entertainment.
