It’s no question that every collector loves a good box set. What better than to own a physical copy of all our favorite content? Well, Mill Creek Entertainment definitely has us in mind with their DVD release of

Ultraman Tiga, Ultraman Dyna, and Ultraman Gaia. This is much more than pretty memorabilia. This collection of three Ultraman series features the original Japanese audio with English subtitles, episode guides, and an exclusive collectible spine mural.

Ultraman Tiga originally premiered in 1996, making it the first new Ultraman Japanese television series in fifteen years. Twenty-five years later, all 52 episodes along with the special Ultraman Tiga Side Story: Revival of the Ancient Giant are available for purchase in better condition than ever with Mill Creek Entertainment’s anniversary DVD set. The story picks up with the Global Unlimited Task Squad (GUTS) deciphering and fulfilling a thirty-million-year-old prophecy by going into battle with two vicious Kaiju in the Land of Tiga. Somewhere along the way a Pyramid of Light that holds three massive Ultra Warrior statues becomes penetrated by GUTS’s very own Daigo, a young risk-taker who ends up merging with the statue of Ultraman Tiga. Now, with the power of Daigo’s energy and vessel, Tiga is reborn and is the first Ultraman with the ability to take on three forms with versatile abilities.

The second of the box set series is Ultraman Dyna which includes 51 episodes from season one plus two specials; Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light and Ultraman Dyna: Return of Hanejiro. This story takes place seven years after Ultraman Tiga and follows new warrior, Ultraman Dyna, who is a product of light combining with GUTS member Agent Asuka, in the same vein as Tiga and Daigo. The two warriors even team up in the included film, Warriors of the Star of Light, in a continuation of Dyna’s efforts to fight the war attempted on humanity by both aliens and Kaiju.

The final box set feature is the 51-episode Ultraman Gaia series as well as Ultraman Tiga, Ultraman Dyna & Ultraman Gaia: The Battle in Hyper Space and Ultraman Gaia: Gaia Once Again. This series in be special for its shift in perspectives as we see the action through each of our key Ultra Heroes. After a wormhole unleashes Kaiju upon the world, two young risk takers achieve the ability to transform into Ultraman as opposed to the historical single hero journey. Now Gamu Takayama, who has merged with Ultraman Gaia, has chosen to use his power to work for GUARD’s front-line defense team. Whereas Hiroya Fujimiya, who becomes Ultraman Agul, has a very different agenda. What began as a simple story of good fighting evil, turns into a deep (and rare) philosophical schism between two Ultras with different beliefs on how humanity should be protected.

The whole set is a perfect encapsulation of the Ultraman universe and all the interconnectivity it holds. There are 153 total episodes of Ultraman not to mention the additional films included. The release schedule for these stunning DVD’s is as follows:

  • Ultraman Tiga, a 6-disc DVD collection, will be available October 5, 2021.
  • Ultraman Dyna, a 6-disc DVD collection, will be available November 2, 2021.
