Ultraman Day offered tons of exciting news for every kind of Ultraman fan, but one of the biggest was the announcement of a collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions and the dynamite artist team known as Gurihiru! Not just that, but through The Licensing Group and FanSets, western fans will get access to a unique set of ultra-hip Ultraman pin collectibles!
Gurihiru is an artist duo based in Saitama, Japan, known for their energetic, colorful style, having made a splash around the world by bringing manga-inspired sensibility to western comics, including The Unbelievable Gwenpool, Spider-Man & Venom: Double Trouble, and the critically acclaimed Thor & Loki: Double Trouble. Ultraman fans were first introduced to the duo’s work in early 2020, when they released a number of charming, dynamic fanarts of Ultraman Geed. Clearly, these pieces left an impression, as later that year that Gurihiru contributed the art for the delightful Kaiju Steps back-up in The Rise of Ultraman #1 from Marvel Comics, returning to do the same for The Trials of Ultraman #1 this year.
The relationship between Gurihiru and Tsuburaya Productions has only grown stronger this year, with the duo having produced the Ultraman Series & Gurihiru line of collectibles in Japan. Fans there have been able to purchase keychains, clear file folders, and button pins emblazoned with adorable interpretations of some of the most famous heroes, villains, and monsters of the Ultraman Series. Fans all over the world have been charmed by the line.
In honor of Ultraman Day, and with western fans in mind, FanSets, in conjunction with Tsuburaya Productions and The Licensing Group, have brought the Ultraman Series & Gurihiru designs to the western world, in an exclusive form! Five designs: our heroes, Ultraman and Ultraseven; and a trio of their fearsome (and honestly, adorable) foes, Alien Baltan, Gomora, and King Joe, have made their way across the ocean in the form of beautiful enamel and metal figure pins, a FanSets signature design. The pins retail for US $8.95 plus shipping, with a full set of five available for $44.
Though they will be available through the FanSets website in the future, they are currently ONLY available through the Ultraman Connection store, which is still open to ticketholders of Ultraman Connection Live: Ultraman Day, so don’t miss out!
